PEP vs Omni at Steel Warehouse

TIME SAVINGS - The instant verification is a huge time saver to keep up with product. MATERIAL SAVINGS - Because the bevel cuts are applied before nesting, the PEP logic knows both the part geometry and the torch path (top and bottom cuts) which allows automatic nesting to nest the part based upon the bevel cutter path just as it would the part geometry of a non beveled part. This saves material. Details of the material yield? The nesting of parts is tight and it is automatic, there is no cutting into other parts. See the pictures below OMNI You basically have to guess at the spacing with Omni. This leads you to be very conservative and waste a lot of material, because you don’t want to have to re-nest the parts and reapply the Omni offsets. What about making corrections? Omni - we would have to insert a whole lot more test parts that were generally 6” squares. Making adjustments took six to eight hours daily, these adjustments were not required with PEP. PEP - I’m able to get by using less of test squares and they are 4” square. Adjustments are done using kerf at the control. This is a huge time saver for the programmer and has saved six to eight hour daily. The Plasma operator tells me he only makes minor changes to kerf – so you guys have done a great job of dialing in these parameters.
